Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 6 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, cinnamon, sugar, and lemon juice. Toss until evenly coated.

  3. Transfer the apple mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, oats, and brown sugar.

  5. Add the butter and use your fingers or a pastry cutter to mix until the topping becomes crumbly.

  6. Stir in the almond extract until evenly incorporated.

  7. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.

  8. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apples are tender.

  9. Let cool slightly before serving.

    Cook’s Note
