Classic Oven-Baked Meatballs
Tender, flavorful meatballs made with simple ingredients and baked until lightly browned. A versatile staple that works well with sauces, grains, or on its own.
Serves: 4–6 | Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cook Time: 20–25 minutes
Ingredients
1½ pounds ground beef (not too lean — important for moisture)
1 egg
¼ cup salt-free bread crumbs
¼ cup onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400°F.
Place the ground beef in a large bowl.
Add the egg, bread crumbs, onion, garlic, parsley, olive oil, and black pepper.
Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
Shape into meatballs about 1½–2 inches in diameter.
Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet or lightly oiled baking dish.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until cooked through and lightly browned.
Optional Stovetop Finish
Heat a small amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the meatballs and brown on all sides for additional flavor before or after baking.

Cook’s Note
Using slightly higher-fat ground beef helps keep the meatballs tender. These can be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen for quick meals.
