Grilled Corn in the Husk

A simple, reliable way to prepare corn—grilled right in the husk to keep it tender, juicy, and lightly smoky.

Serves: 4 | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 15–20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 ears of corn, in husks

  • 1–2 tbsp olive oil

  • Freshly ground black pepper

    Optional: unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Gently pull back the husks without removing them, and remove the silk from each ear. Pull the husks back over the corn to cover.

  2. Soak the corn in water for about 10 minutes to help prevent burning. Shake off excess water before placing on the grill.

  3. Preheat a grill to medium heat.

  4. Place the corn directly on the grill and cook, turning occasionally, for 15–20 minutes until tender.

  5. Remove from the grill and carefully peel back the husks.

  6. Brush lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper. If using, add a small amount of butter while warm.

  7. Serve immediately.

Cook’s Note:
Soaking the corn helps keep the husks from burning too quickly while allowing the corn to steam gently inside. For a more charred finish, peel back the husks and grill for 2–3 additional minutes.
