Sautéed Sweet Peppers with Garlic & Lemon

Sweet peppers are sautéed with garlic until tender, then finished with a squeeze of fresh lemon. Bright, vibrant, and full of natural flavor, this easy side pairs well with almost any main dish.

Serves: 4–6 | Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cook Time: 10–12 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 red sweet peppers

  • 2 yellow sweet peppers

  •  2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  •  Freshly ground black pepper

Optional: 2–3 tbsp sour cream (for light drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Cut the peppers in half, remove the seeds, and slice into strips.

  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the peppers and sauté for about 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften.

  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

  4. Remove from the heat and stir in the lemon juice and black pepper.

  5. Transfer to a serving dish and serve warm.

  6. If using, lightly drizzle sour cream over the peppers just before serving.

Cook’s Notes:

Do not overcook the peppers—they should be tender but still have some texture.

The lemon juice adds brightness and helps balance the richness of the oil.

A light drizzle of sour cream adds contrast without overpowering the dish.
